Kazan Airport - an international airport located 27 km from Kazan. The airport was opened in 1979. In 2001, the airport underwent a complete reconstruction of the refueling complex. In 2002, a second runway with a length of 3700 meters was built. In 2008, the airport served over 700,000 people. The passenger traffic growth in 2008 compared to 2007 was 30 percent.

Currently, the construction of a business-class terminal is underway at the airport, with a capacity of 100 people per hour. The investment in the construction amounted to 132 million rubles. In 2013, a complete reconstruction of the airport is planned. The Bulgarian holding company "Himimport" will invest in the reconstruction. It is planned that after the reconstruction, the airport will be able to serve up to five million people per year.
