Lockheed L-1011 Tristar is a wide-body, three-engine passenger aircraft developed and produced by Lockheed Corporation in the 1970s. It was created to compete with the Boeing 747 and Douglas DC-10 and was one of the first aircraft equipped with an automatic flight control system.
The L-1011 Tristar had a length of 50 meters, a wingspan of 47 meters, and a maximum takeoff weight of 190 tons. It could carry up to 400 passengers for distances up to 9,000 kilometers. The aircraft was powered by three Rolls-Royce RB211 turbofan engines, which provided high efficiency and reliability.
The L-1011 Tristar was popular among airlines, but production was discontinued in 1984 due to high manufacturing costs and competition from Boeing and Airbus. A total of 250 L-1011 Tristar aircraft were produced. Some of them are still in use as cargo and charter aircraft.
